tire balancer not maintained and blamed wheels
I own a 2004 F250 4x4. I purchased 4 brand new Cooper tires from my local NTB . After about 200 miles. The truck would start to vibrate when driving over 50 mph. I went back to the local NTB twice in which they balanced the tires again with no improvement. Let me give you a little prior history. Prior to these cooper tires, I had a set of oversized mud tires on factory wheels which I had no vibration issues. The tires seemed to be getting worse and worse. The third time I took my truck in, the technician blamed the issues on bent rims. I told the NTB manager that I was going to another tire shop and got him to agree to pay for it if the balance was off. Then he made a comment, that he would not pay because he is positive my wheels are bent. I went down the street to a Discount Tire, where I watched them put each wheel on the balancer. I did not tell the technician anything about NTB as I wanted an unbiased opinion. Every wheel was off between 1 to 2.5 ounces from what NTB had put on. On two wheels they even had put weights 180 degrees apart. Needless to say, It completely solved my issues. I did get paid from NTB, though it did take tthree trips and a threat to call the District Manager. As I was leaving the building the day I got paid, a customer was complaining of the same concern. I don't think NTB does regular maintenance on their equipment
